Arpita Chatterjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty to play two sisters in the upcoming film “Mayamrigaya”
Arpita Chatterjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty will be seen together for the first time in the upcoming film Mayamrigaya. The film will be based on Rabindranath Tagore’s novel “Dui Bon” where Arpita will be seen playing the elder sister Sharmila and Ritabhari will play the younger sister Urmimala. The film will be directed by Subhrajit Mitra who has already directed the yet to be released movie Avijatrik which is based on the last part of Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay’s Apu Trilogy. Subhrajit has also written the adapted screenplay for the film.
Other than the two leading ladies the film will also feature Indraneil Sengupta as Sharmila’s husband Shashankamouli. Earlier Indraneil and Arpita had played a married couple in the film Satyanweshi directed by Rituparno Ghosh. Popular TV actress Ditipriya Roy will be seen an important character named Rokeya. Both Arpita and Ditipriya have worked with director Subhrajit Mitra in his last film Avijatrik.
As per the original story the film will be set in the pre-independence period and Art director Indranil Ghosh has been assigned to recreate that era. Tiyas Sen will be the DOP. Bickram Ghose will compose the music for the film which will be mainly a collection of songs and poems written by Rabindranath Tagore, Amir Khushro and William Shakespeare. As of now the film is in pre-production stage. As per plan shooting for the film will begin towards the end of this year at different locations of Murshidabad, Shantiniketan and Almora.
