Teaser of the movie “Zombiesthaan”
So far no Bengali film maker has tried to touch the topic of zombies but with the upcoming film Zombiesthaan , zombies are going to make their entry in Bengali movies. The film is being directed by Abhirup Ghosh who had made his directorial debut with the movie K Secret Eye. His second film Rohoshyo Romancho Series which has been released recently on an OTT platform is grabbing everyone’s attention. It has been produced by new production house Krishna Motion Pictures.
The story of Zombiesthaan, will be set in future in 2030 when most of the human population has turned into zombies or has been killed by zombies as an aftermath of some bio-chemical reaction. In such a situation there is a lone survivor in Bengal named Akira. She believes there is a safe place for the VIPs and she will survive if she can reach to that place. The film will focus on her journey for survival. During her journey she will meet various type of persons and will gather different experiences. Tnusree Chakraborty is playing the lead role as Akira. Rudranil Ghosh and Rajatava Dutta are playing the persons whom she will meet during her journey.
Since when director Abhirup Ghosh has announced Zombiesthaan, there is a huge curiosity among the audience for this film. It is definitely courageous to think about such a subject but it is even more challenging to present the concept in form of a movie that too in a limited budget of Bengali cinema. We all are curious to see how Abhirup will use his expertise as a director and his talented team to face this challenge. Although, considering his past record one can be hopeful that the final outcome will be satisfactory but for that we have to wait for sometime as the film will release during this winter. For the time being the makers have released a small teaser of the film and it is compelling enough to make you more eager for its release.
The teaser is too small to come to any conclusion about the film but the thing that is impressive about this teaser is its convincing look and feel. The make up has been done very well to make the zombies look effective. The way cinematographer Ankkit Sengupta has captured the look of post-apocalyptic Bengal that is looking very authentic. Also the background score and sound design have given the teaser a pacy feel. Among the cast we can see mostly Tnusree in the teaser. She is looking very different from her other screen avatars. We can see her doing action also and she is looking promising in her part. There are few glimpses of Rudranil Ghosh and Rajatava Dutta also but the teaser does not reveal much about their characters. Nevertheless, at least their presence makes it sure that we are going to see some solid performances.
