Five Bengali movies have been selected for Indian Panorama section at IFFI 2018
Bengali movies have always been quite regular at International Film Festival of India. Recently IFFI has announced the official selections for Indian Panorama section for its 49th edition. There are total 22 movies in this list which have five Bengali movies. It is the second highest count in this list, followed by six Malayalam movies. These five Bengali movies are Nagar Kirtan, Uma, Uronchodi, Abyakto and Sa.
Nagar Kirtan, directed by Kaushik Ganguly, is yet to be released in theaters but it has already created lots of buzz after winning several awards at National Awards this year. Kaushik Ganguly has became a regular attendee at IFFI every year. His movies is getting selected in this festival for 9th consecutive year. Srijit Mukherji’s Uma has already been appreciated at many Film festivals as well as by audiences at theaters. Now it will be an added feather in the cap for the team. Before this Srijit Mukherji’s Rajakahini was selected at IFFI in the year 2015.
Besides these two senior directors, three first time directors have made entry to this prestigious event. Director Abhishek Saha is very much happy as his debut movie Uronchondi has got recognition at such a large platform. Another debutante director Arjunn Dutta is equally excited for his film Abyakto. This yet to be released film has also been selected for Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) 2018. It is time for double celebration for him. Popular singer Arijit Singh had surprised everyone by turning director with his first Bengali film as a director titled as Sa. Now after his debut movie’s selection at this event he has proved his brilliance as a director also. Now everyone is looking forward to its theatrical release.
The festival will be held in Goa from November 20 to November 28, so if you are around there during this period and want to catch some really good movies then do not loose this opportunity.
