First look poster of Srijit Mukherji’s next film “Shah Jahan Regency”, released

Year 2018 has been really a big treat for the fans of Srijit Mukherji. There is already two back to back hits Uma and Ek Je Chhilo Raja. Both the movies have ruled box office as well as got appreciations from everywhere. Now the year is going to end with yet another Srijit Mukherji film Shah Jahan Regency. With this multi starer Srijit is venturing into production also. His own production house Matchcut Productions Private Limited has co-produced the film along with Shree venkatesh Films. The movie will be a multi starer featuring Abir Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Rudranil Ghosh, Anajan Dutt, Anirban Bhattacharya, Mamata Shankar, Babul Supriyo, Rittika Sen, Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee  and Rituparna Sengupta in a guest appearance.

Recently the first look poster of the film has been released in social media platforms. Just like his earlier films once again Srjit Mukherji has came up with a very innovative poster that is in complete sync with the story of the film. It is based on Shankar’s novel Chowringhee written in 1962. Just like the original story the film Shah Jahan Regency also revolves around a luxury hotel and that has been reflected very well in the first look poster. It shows a hotel room where the logo of the hotel is showing as the title of the film along with the tagline of the film “All The World’s A Hotel”.

Shankar had written the novel in 1962 and few years later a film was also made based on the novel where Uttam Kumar had played the central character. According to Srijit, a lot has changed in hotel industry as well as in society in last 50 years so it is unnecessary to draw comparisons with the novel or the film. Shah Jahan Regency will not be a remake rather it will be a modern day story taking inspiration from the novel. Some characters from the original has been excluded whereas few new characters have been added. Also the names of some of the characters has been changed as those names are outdated now. The makers want to approach it as a fresh film not as a remake. The film is scheduled to release in this December although the release date has not been confirmed yet.
