Parambrata Chatterjee to direct the biopic of Soumitra Chatterjee, titled as Abhijaan

Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee, recently turned 85. On this special occasion actor-director Parambrata Chatterjee made an official announcement that he is going to direct biopic based on the life of this legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee. With 60 year long acting career, over 300 films and several awards Soumitra Chatterjee is a living legend in every sense. His life is very eventful and it deserved to be to told on big screen. The film will be titled as Abhijaan.

Script for the film in being written by Padmanabha Dasgupta. It will feature the major events from both personal and professional life of the actor. Actor Jisshu Sengupta will be seen playing Soumitra Chatterjee in his young age. Earlier he had also acted in the character of Uttam Kumar in the movie Mahalaya. Interesting thing about the casting is Soumitra Chatterjee will play himself in the elderly age. This is probably the first time when an actor will play himself in his own biopic. No one can deny Soumitra Chatterjee’s story is incomplete without Satyajit Ray. The actor-director had a long association which will be remembered forever. In this film Ray will be played by director Q who has an uncanny resemblance with the visionary director. The film will also feature some other contemporary actors and directors. Paoli Dam will be seen playing Suchitra Sen and Sohini Sarkar will play the character of Madhabi Mukherjee. Also there will be Rudranil Ghosh in a guest appearance as yesteryear’s comic actor Robi Ghosh. As of now nothing has been confirmed about the rest of the cast.
