Prosenjit Chattterjee’s production house Nideas Creations & Productions Pvt Ltd has always encouraged new directors who want to tell stories with strong content. The production house has continued this trend with their latest film Nirontor. It has been directed by new talent Chanrasish Ray who has worked as an assistant director with Kaushik Ganguly on several films. Earlier in 2016, Chandrasish had directed the much acclaimed short film Dugga. Nirontor has already traveled to many prestigious film festivals and it has won several awards too at those festivals along with appreciations from the audience. The film is scheduled to have a direct television premier on June 28th at 3 PM on Zee Bangla TV. From the same day it will also stream on Zee network’s OTT platform Zee5.

According to producer Prosenjit Chatterjee, who is also playing the lead role in the film,  they had already sold the satelite rights of the film to Zee network in December last year. In current pandemic situation there is no certainty about how long it will take for theaters to reopen, in such situation it will be unfair to ask the channel hold its satelite premier for longer time. So they have agreed for it’s satelite and digital premier. Although they have plan for a small scale theater release of the film later when situation will be normal again.

Apart from Prosenjit Chatterjee, the rest of the cast is full of lesser known yet talented faces. Theater actor Satyam Bhattacharya will be seen playing the parallel lead. Also the film features Ankita Majhi, Ekavali Khanna, Pranay Narayan in supporting characters. A large portion of the film is set in hill areas of North Bengal and the exotic locations have been wonderfully captured by DOP Soumik Haldar. Subhajit Singha has worked as the editor for the film.

The film is about two persons, a civil engineer and his subordinate played by Prosenjit Chatterjee and Satyam Bhattacharya respectively. They go to a hill area on a site visit for an official assignment. The two are of very different in nature and also belongs to two different generation but in the hill area where they are totally disconnected with the rest of the world they start developing a bond with each other. Although the film is releasing directly on small screen but we hope it will find its own audience who want to watch good cinema irrespective of the screen size.
