Trailer of the movie “Professor Shanku O El Dorado”
Its been almost two years ago when Shree venkatesh Films had announced the movie Professor Shanku O El Dorado, since then we are eagerly waiting for the big screen debut of Professor Shanku, the genius scientist from Satyajit Ray’s science fiction series. It has been directed by Sandip Ray. He was planning to make a movie on Professor Shanku for a long time but it was not an easy task to get suitable producers for this ambitious venture. As the film requires some good quality visual effects and long outdoor schedules in abroad which means it has to be a big budget project. Finally Shree Venkatesh Films came forward to produce this film without making any compromise on the creative vision of Mr Ray. Apart from budget it needed lot of time as well for its pre production and post production works. So for obvious reasons the film took much longer time to be completed compared to most of the other Bengali movies. Finally the wait is over as the movie is all set for Christmas release.
The film is based on Ray’s story “Nakurbabu O El Dorado”. Most of us have already read it and it is a fascinating story. It will be interesting to see the visual interpretation of the story on big screen by Sandip Ray. Extremely talented actor Dhritiman Chatterjee who has acted in many films directed by both Satyajit and Sandip Ray, is playing the lead role as Professor Trilokeshwar Shanku. Actor Shubhashis Mukhopadhyay will be seen as his well wisher Nakur Babu. Apart from them, there are many foreigner actors in the cast as per the demand of the story.
Recently the trailer of the film has been released. It is of very short duration and does not go in much detail about the plot. It only gives a kind of introduction to the two main leads Professor Shanku and Nakur Babu. One must agree both Dhritiman Chatterjee and Shubhashis Mukhopadhyay are looking absolutely perfect in their respective characters. Other than them, in the trailer we can also see some exotic locations captured beautifully by cinematographer Soumik Halder. Also there are few computer graphics shots which are reasonably good.
For many of us Professor Shanku is a nostalgic memory of our growing up age and it will be a nice experience to walk down the memory lane once again while watching this film. But for that we have to wait till Christmas, as of now enjoy the trailer:
