Birsa Dasgupta started shooting for his next film Crisscross

Director Birsa Dasgupta is back to shooting floor with his next film Crisscross. It will be one rare Bengali film where all the central characters will be females. Shree Venkatesh Films is producing the film. The film is based on writer Smaranjit Chakraborty’s best seller novel by the same name. Apart from Birsa Dasgupta another young generation director Mainak Bhaumik is also associated with the film but not as a director. He has written the adapted screenplay for the film.

The film will feature not one or two but five female characters in the central role. It will tell the stories of this five ladies who are very different from each other. Their stories will criss cross with each other. Birsa has roped five talented actresses to play these characters and these ladies are Jaya Ahsan, Sohini Sarkar, Nusrat, Mimi Chakraborty and Priyanka Sarkar. Jaya Ahsan will work with Birsa Dasgupta for first time, rest of the girls have worked with him earlier. Earlier Swastika Mukherjee was also supposed to be a part of the cast but later she opted out of the film and Jaya Ahsan replaced her. Apart from these leading ladies, the cast will also include Arjun Chakraborty, Gaurav Chakraborty, Indrashis Roy, Mainak Banerjee, Ambarish Lahiri and Ridhima Ghosh in significant roles.

The film will be shot by cinematographer Gairik Sarkar who had also worked on Birsa Dasgupta’s last film Shob Bhooturey and his work was very much appreciated in that film. Music of the film will be composed by Jam8 Studio. It is an A&R initiative mentored by composer Pritam. This group gives a platform to budding talents in the field of music. It will be their first venture in Bengali movies. With Jam8 Studio we can expect some fresh music in the film. Shooting for the film has already started , as of now nothing has been confirmed about the release date.
