Arindam Sil to direct “Mahananda”, a movie inspired by the life and work of Late Mahasweta Devi

Recently on the occasion of his birthday, director Arindam Sil has announced his new film Mahananda. It will be produced by Friends Communication Production who are going to work with Arindam Sil for the first time. The film will be inspired by the life and works of Late Mahasweta Devi, a renowned author and a socio-political activist.

According to the makers, it will not be a typical biopic rather it will be a fictional story taking references from the life of the noble lady. It will be about an author and activist Mahananda who inspires an young research scholar Mahalaya. The film will actually show how we should carry forward the inspiring thoughts of Mahasweta Devi to the younger generation. She was a visionary with progressive thoughts. The kind of work she has done for the upliftment of Santhali community and women empowerment is commendable. Unfortunately most us are not aware of her activities, this film will surely raise awareness about it.

Very talented actress Gargee Roychowdhury will be seen essaying the title role of Mahananda. She is very excited to play this challenging character. Ishaa Saha will be seen as Mahalaya, the young research scholar who gets inspired by the ideologies of Mahananda. Gaurav Chakrabarty will be seen as Ishaa’s on screen boyfriend.

Arindam Sil will co-write the screenplay with Shubhendu Dasmunshi who has also written the script for Arindam’s last film Mayaa Kumaari. Just like all other films directed by Arindam Sil, for this one also Bickram Ghosh will compose music and background score. Arindam Sil will start working on this film after completing shooting for the film Khela Jokhon.
