“Madhumashey Phool Photey” song from the movie “Maayakumari”
We already know director Arindam Sil’s next film Maayakumari is a tribute to the glorious 100 years of Bengali cinema and it was about to hit the theaters in this summer. But in last few months situation has changed completely due to the outbreak of COVID – 19. As a consequence of it, we have to wait for some more time to see the film in theaters. In the meantime, the makers of the film have decided to provide some sort of entertainment to the audience by releasing the first song from the film, titled as Madhumashey Phool Photey. The song has a retro feel and most probably it is a situational song in the film that tries to catch the essence of that era.
This is a romantic song with a soothing melody. It has been wonderfully composed by Bickram Ghosh. The use of traditional Indian instruments like Sarod, Sarangi, Tabla,Flute has made it more special for our ears. Subhendu Dasmunshi who has also co-written the story and screenplay of the film, has written the song. He has a very good hold on Bengali language and his writing shows that. Madhubanti Bagchi’s soulful rendition has added more melody to this song. Together the trio have succeded to evoke the Intentended nostalgia of movies from the past.
In current scenario everyone is uncertain about how long it will take for movie theaters to be functional again. In such a situation the song has definitely given us a hope of the bright sunshine that is waiting for us at the end of the tunnel.
