Trailer of the movie “Gotro”
Director duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy are ready to win our hearts once again with yet another heart touching subject with a socially relevant message. Their upcoming movie Gotro is all set to release in this August on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
The story is about a Hindu aged woman and her Muslim caretaker. They are from different religious background and culture but still they share an emotional bonding like a mother and son. With their bonding the film has tried to raise an important question, is it really necessary to belong from same religion, same Gotro to be emotionally connected with someone? In today’s time there are so much violence going on around us because of religious differences, most of us have almost forgotten that humanity is the biggest identity of a human. In such a situation Gotro is trying try to remind us the importance of humanity over religion.
After getting positive response for the teaser and songs, the makers have released the trailer of the film. The trailer is a continuation of the teaser only with little more explanation of the story and characters.
The trailer has been presented with a voice over by Shiboprosad Mukherjee who introduces characters and their situation to us. Mukti Debi, played by Anashua Majumdar,is an aged woman in her 70’s. She lives alone as her only son is settled in abroad. A local promoter played by Kharaj Mukherjee is eyeing on her property but she is not willing to sell it. Before settling in abroad, Mukti Debi’s son has appointed a caretaker for his mother’s security whose name is Tareq Ali. Tareq Ali, played by Nigel Akkara, had a criminal background and was in prison for few years but now he has left crime and leading a normal life. The trailer also gives a hint that Tareq Ali has entered in the house as a caretaker but his real motive is something else. The film will also feature Manali Manisha Dey in a significant character as a maid in the house.
From the trailer it seems the basic concept of the film is not so new, we have seen several movies where a person enters in a family with a motive of crime but later he or she has a change of heart after getting love and care from the family members. Although the basic plot is not so new but the angle of Hindu Muslim bonding will give it a refreshing touch and will make the subject very relevant as per current situations. Also there will be the special touch of the director duo who make simple stories special adding authentic plots and characters from our day to day life.
