This summer meet the first Dracula of Bengali cinema in “Dracula Sir”
Most of us are well familiar with the idea of Dracula thanks to some Hollywood movies and their inspired versions in Bollywood. But so far no film maker has tried to bring this idea to Bengali movies. Finally the wait is over we are going to have our very own Dracula of Bengali cinema who is coming on this May 1st in the movie Dracula Sir. It has been produced by Shree Venkatesh Films and directed by Debaloy Bhattacharya.
The film will be a psychological thriller set in the backdrop 1971’s Bengal where the time period will play a significant part in the story. It will feature versatile actor Anirban Bhattacharya in the title role. He will be seen playing a school teacher who is called as Dracula Sir by his students as he has a pair of canine teeth. Besides Anirban Bhattacharya, the film will also feature Mimi Chakraborty in an important character. With this film she will make a comeback to the big screen after a gap of more than a year. Recently the first official poster of the film has been revealed. In this poster can see Anirban Bhattacharya in a traditional Dracula look along with Mimi as a mysterious woman posing with a lamp. Hopefully we will get to know more about the plot and the characters in due time with the release of the trailer and other promotional materials.
Earlier Debaloy Bhattacharya had directed two movies, both the movies had unique story ideas but failed to connect with audience for clumsy story telling. But recently he has directed few shows for OTT platform and those have been well accepted by the audience. Hopefully his third film will give him recognition as a film director as well.
