Director Raj Chakraborty is all geared up for his next film as a director titled as Dharmajuddha. The film has been produced by his own production house Raj Chakraborty Productions along with Shyamlal Agarwal. The team has already wrapped up shooting for the film and now it is in post production stage. Earlier it was scheduled to release in December 2019 but now the release date has been postponed to March 20, 2020. It is an wise decision by the makers to avoid clash with other big releases during winter season.

It will be a political drama set in a locality situated near border area. It is a kind of place where violence over religious differences is a very regular affair. The film will revolve around five central characters ; an aged woman, a girl who is her caretaker and three strangers who come to take shelter in her house. The five of them, do not belong to same religion, some of them are Hindu and some are Muslim . The film will focus on the equations between these five characters, going through a situation of communal violence around them.

The casting of the film is its biggest highlight which includes veteran actress Swatilekha Sengupta along with Ritwick Chakraborty, Soham Chakraborty, Subhashree Ganguly and Parno Mittra. Both Swatilekha Sengupta and Parno Mittra are working with Raj Chakraborty for the first time. Recently the character posters of the five lead characters have been released. It is too early to comment about the characters by their first look only but it seems the looks of the characters has been designed very carefully and it is very different from their regular screen image. Specially for the two leading ladies Subhashree and Parno Mittra who are sporting completely deglamorized looks as Munni and Shabnam respectively. Also Soham is sporting very different look as a Muslim guy Jabbar, compared to his regular sweet guy image. Ritwick chakraborty is a versatile actor who keeps experimenting with his characters and looks so it is not much surprising to see him in yet another different look as Raghav.

Most of the time, Raj Chakraborty is associated with remakes but now he is trying to come out of that image doing content based movies with original story idea. He has already proved that in his last release Patineeta and now Dharmajuddha will be his next step in that direction.
