Trailer of the movie “Cheeni”
This Christmas Shree Venkatesh Films are releasing their new film Cheeni, written and directed by Mainak Bhaumik. It is a story about the bitter sweet relationship between a mother and daughter played by Aparajita Adhya and Madhumita respectively. The film also features Saurav Das as Madhumita’s boyfriend who plays a key character in the story. Earlier also Mainak Bhaumik has made movies about different equations between family members of middle class Bengali families. Irrespective of the box office response of those movies, no one can deny the authenticity and honesty of his story telling as a result his character and emotions connects very easily with the audiences. From the trailer of Cheeni, it looks like he is going to recreate the magic once again.
The trailer introduces the two lead protagonists Mishti a 50 year old woman and her 25 year old daughter Cheeni in a role reversal format where the mother is enjoying a carefree life like a teenager and the daughter is looking more responsible as the senior member of the family. This story focuses on the aspirations of a woman as an individual beyond her responsibilities of a mother only. Unfortunately most of the time kids neglect that aspect. Its an important matter that need to be told and its good to see Mainak Bhaumik is talking about it through an entertaining format. Other than that the films also highlights the issue of domestic violence, there is a hint of that in the trailer. Definitely Aparajita Adhya is the show stealer in the trailer, she looks amazing as a cool mother. Madhumita and Saurav are also looking convincing in their parts. The trailer assures the film has both funny as well as emotional moments which makes it more appealing.
Although due to ongoing pandemic situation audience are not too excited to visit cinema halls but considering the moderate budget of this film, it seems a wise decision by the production house to release the film during the family holiday season of Christmas and New Year. Hopefully Cheeni will end this year on a sweet note for both audience as well as cinema hall owners.
